The sheriff’s
patrol is the most visible part of the
sheriff’s office. Patrol deputies are tasked with many
duties. They are
responsible for answering calls for emergency and non-emergency service. Patrol deputies are the
first line of defense
in the fight against crime in Emanuel County.
When not answering calls,
patrol deputies act as officers of
the court by serving civil processes and criminal warrants. Deputies
also
provide security and support for the various court systems in Emanuel County.
The Emanuel County
Sheriff’s Office has also become an
active member of the South Central Traffic Enforcement Network, which
is
organized by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The
traffic network is
designed to enhance traffic enforcement through networking, training
and
legislation. Deputies assigned to traffic enforcement within the county
are
assisted by agencies within the network and the Georgia State Patrol.
