The Criminal
Investigations Division of the Emanuel County
Sheriff’s Office is tasked with the responsibility of
providing investigative services to the
victims of various crimes. This is often accomplished by being both
reactive
and proactive towards criminal activity.
Investigators
often initiate an investigation after a patrol
deputy has taken an incident report of a crime. This allows the patrol
deputy
to focus more time on the immediate needs of other citizens of Emanuel County,
as an investigation requires a
significant amount of time and effort.
Investigators
for the Sheriff’s Office work cases on many
types of crimes including property crimes, violent crimes, special
victims
crimes, juvenile crimes and narcotics investigations. If needed,
investigators
summon assistance from patrol deputies or from outside agencies such as
the Georgia Bureau of
Investigation or the
East Central Georgia Drug Task
Force. Investigators also work closely with the District Attorney's
Office for the Middle Judicial Circuit of Georgia.
